The suburb of Beltsville in northern Prince George's County is sought after by buyers looking for modestly priced homes close to the Capital Beltway and Interstate 95, the Baltimore Washington Parkway, the University of Maryland, NASA, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.  It has been blessed with a wide variety of mass transportation and major thoroughfares since the days when the community was little more than a string of blacksmith shops and colonial taverns along the old Baltimore Pike in the late 1700's. 

The Beltsville commercial corridor of today is a former rest stop of sorts from the early 1800's for trips along the old Baltimore Pike, which evolved into U.S. Route 1.  Though its train station and trolley cars are gone, the area is increasingly attractive for families who need easy access to both Washington, D.C. and Baltimore or the growing high-tech corridor between Bowie and Greenbelt.
